Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah responded to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “looted” accusation on Monday, claiming that the comment is intended to deceive voters in order to win votes and that he intends to sue for it.

After addressing the Kanakadasa Jayanthi function in Bengaluru, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah told reporters, “PM Modi is lying. The purpose is to deceive the public in order to get votes. We’ll look at the legal aspects. We intend to bring legal action against this.

PM Modi said earlier this month at a rally in Maharashtra that the Congress is “looting people” in Karnataka and that the funds are being utilized for Maharashtra campaigning.

Congress misled voters in Karnataka and pushed them to support them. They established a government but failed to keep their word. In Karnataka, they are instead waging an extortion campaign. Every other day, frauds are discovered in Karnataka. It indicates that the Congress is robbing people in the middle of the day. Congress is allegedly using the same funds to sabotage Maharashtra’s elections. “We must hold Congress at bay if we hope to save Maharashtra,” he said.

He also criticized Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy for failing to represent the state in the tax devolution debate.
“Did HD Kumaraswamy help the poor in any way?” he asked. What is his moral right? Our fair share is not being provided by the national government. Did he ever represent Karnataka in the distribution of taxes? The Union Finance Minister oversees NABARD. In order to avoid doing that, I had addressed a letter to the Prime Minister and the Union Finance Minister.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had earlier on November 1 said that the state is “met with an injustice” regarding tax devolution, adding that the state pays a large amount of taxes but does not get its due share in return.
“The tax distribution system in Karnataka is unfair now. After Maharashtra, we are in second place. During Bengaluru’s celebration of Rajyotsava Day, he said, “We are paying 4 lakh crores in taxes, but we are receiving less in return.”
