In honor of International Women’s Day, CM Majhi announced earlier on March 8 that the administration has distributed the second payment of the Subhadra Yojana, its flagship initiative.
“We launched the second installment of the flagship Subhadra Yojana program on International Women’s Day. Women’s empowerment is a priority for our administration. From an economic perspective, the Subhadra Yojana would be quite advantageous for them (women),” Majhi told the media report.
The flagship program of the Odisha government, ‘Subhadra,’ was launched in Bhubaneswar last year by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
A government statement claims that it is the biggest women-focused program in the state, with the goal of helping more than one crore women in Odisha.
Over the course of five years, from 2024–2025 to 2028–2029, every eligible recipient between the ages of 21 and 60 would get Rs 50,000. The beneficiaries would get Rs 10,000 per year in two equal payments, which will be deposited straight to their bank accounts that are connected to DBT and Aadhaar.
Prime Minister Modi started transferring money to more than 10 lakh women’s bank accounts at the ceremony.
Pravati Parida, the deputy chief minister of Odisha, said on Friday that the state government had given the second installment of the Subhadra Yojana and that 1 crore 64,000 women had received Rs 5,024 crore.
“I heartily congratulate women of the state, country, and world on the occasion of International Women’s Day,” the Deputy Chief Minister told the media report. The second installment of the Subhadra Yojana, worth Rs 5,024 crore, was distributed to 1 crore 64,000 women by the state government today. In two installments, each recipient mother got over Rs 10,000 today.
