Chirag Paswan praised PM Modi and said that only Modi’s government can take the country forward
Union Minister Chirag Paswan praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday, stating that the nation can advance under PM Modi’s leadership.
“The results are coming in our favor because PM Modi’s government is the only one capable of moving the nation forward,” Paswan said.
Additionally, he criticized the opposition for the claims made in the Joint Parliamentary Committee on Waqf (Amendment) Bill, saying, If you don’t trust it, then who will they trust? “First, they (opposition) asked that it be forwarded to the JPC.
In response to opposition members’ calls to prolong the Joint Parliament Committee on Waqf (Amendment) Bill’s term, JPC chairman Jagdambika Pal earlier said that their report was complete and that they will review each item in detail.
Pal said that because Om Birla, the speaker of the Lok Sabha, has sent this bill to the JPC, they would follow his decision.
“Our report is complete, and we will review each clause in detail. This was also said by the opposition here, who wanted the JPC’s time to be extended. The Speaker is available for meetings with any member or opposition. The opposition has been attempting to prolong the JPC’s term. We will follow the Speaker’s decision since he sent this item to us,” he said.
The JPC chairman said that they discussed clause by clause at a nearly six-hour meeting with the Ministry of Minority Affairs on Thursday.
Speaker Om Birla was urged to extend the Joint Committee’s time by certain opposition MPs, who claimed that Committee Chairman Jagdambika Pal was in a haste to provide the committee’s findings to Parliament and was not prepared to hear their concerns.
The Joint Parliamentary Committee on the Waqf Amendment Bill, 2024, has met many times since August 22 of this year. The JPC heard from 123 stakeholders, including representatives from six states, eight Waqf boards, and four minority commissions, and examined the functioning of six ministries.
It is important to remember that the Waqf Act of 1995, which was designed to control waqf holdings, has long been accused of corruption, poor administration, and invasion.
With the introduction of digitization, more stringent audits, transparency, and legal tools to recover unlawfully occupied assets, the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2024 aims to implement comprehensive changes. In order to achieve the most complete reform feasible, the JPC is hosting a number of meetings to get feedback from representatives of the community, Waqf Board members, legal experts, and government officials from various states and Union Territories.
