“Acting on confidential information, a joint operation by Agartala Government Railway Police (GRP), Railway Protection Force (RPF), Border Security Force (BSF), and intelligence agencies led to the detention of two Bangladeshi nationals at Agartala Railway Station on Thursday,” a press release stated.

The inmates disclosed that Kolkata was their destination during the first interrogation.

Authorities believe that further people may be implicated in the crime, and the GRP officers at the Agartala Police Station are conducting in-depth interrogations.

According to the announcement, the inmates would be brought before the court when a complaint has been filed at the Agartala GRP Police Station.

Six Bangladeshi nationals were detained by BSF personnel earlier on Wednesday when they stopped another unauthorized attempt to enter the border near the Meghalaya border.

Following a particular intelligence tip, a comprehensive search operation was conducted in the East Jaintia Hills area near the border between Bangladesh and India.

After being apprehended, it was discovered that these people had traveled to India a few months before, worked as domestic helpers in Bangalore, and were now attempting to return home.

As the nation celebrates Republic Day, the BSF has instituted a 10-day “OPS Alert” operation along the India-Bangladesh border to maintain increased security.

Taking into account the altered situation in Bangladesh, this action was made prior to the 76th Republic Day.
