Boucher reflected on Men in Blue spinner Varun Chakravarthy’s performance in the match

Former cricket player Mark Boucher commented on Men in Blue spinner Varun Chakravarthy’s performance in the match after India defeated South Africa by 61 runs in the first Twenty20 International. He said that Chakravarthy bowled briskly.

Varun Chakaravarthy assisted the Men in Blue in defending the goal by taking three wickets and scoring twenty-five runs in his four overs.

Varun and Ravi Bishnoi bowled together well in the second inning, according to Boucher, who was speaking on Jio Cinema.

“Varun Chakravarthy has advanced significantly. His bowling performance tonight alongside Bishnoi demonstrated their excellent middle-field combination. To be honest, Klaasen didn’t seem to be in good shape at all, and he appeared out of rhythm,” Boucher added.

The Indian bowling assault made it seem like men against boys, the former Proteas cricket player said.

They always seemed like something that was going to happen or give, but they were never truly in with a shout. To increase pressure, I believe they bowled nine balls for three runs at one point. To be honest, they really made it seem like boys vs men,” he said.

After the toss, South Africa, captained by Aiden Markram, put India to bat first.

India got off to a scorching start in the match because to Sanju Samson’s blitz. India reached 202/8 in the first inning thanks to an average effort from batsman Tilak Varma and captain Suryakumar Yadav.

Gerald Coetzee, who took three wickets for 37 runs in his four-over performance, spearheaded the South African bowling assault.

The South African batsmen did not do well throughout the run chase. The 30-run threshold was not reached by any Proteas hitters.

The hosts’ top run scorers were Gerald Coetzee and Heinrich Klaasen.

With two overs left, the Indian bowling assault, spearheaded by Varun Chakaravarthy and Ravi Bishnoi, swept out the hosts for 141. Bishnoi and Varun each took three wickets throughout the match.

Samson’s outstanding performance with the bat earned him the title of Player of the Match.

On Sunday at Gqeberha, India will play South Africa in the series’ second Twenty20 International.
