BJP president Virendra Sachdeva accused AAP leaders of threatening the election officer
New Delhi: Territory BJP president Virendraa Sachdeva accused Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders Raghav Chadha and Sanjay Singh of intimidating the poll inspector and demanded action against them ahead of the upcoming assembly elections in Delhi.
This follows a letter from the New Delhi District Election Officer to the Chief Electoral Officer of Delhi on the claims made by AAP leaders regarding the removal of voters from the New Delhi Assembly Constituency.
Sachdeva further said that Raghav Chadha, Sanjay Singh, Arvind Kejriwal, and Delhi Chief Minister Atishi are all complicit in the plot to destroy democracy.
“Delhi CM Atishi, Arvind Kejriwal, Sanjay Singh, and Raghav Chadha are involved in the conspiracy to murder democracy,” Virendraa Sachdeva told ANI.The poll officer was threatened by Sanjay Singh and Raghav Chadha. When he is doing election-related tasks, the official cannot be contacted, even if Delhi Chief Minister Atishi herself summoned him to her office. They should be held accountable for their threats against the election officer.
In his remarks, BJP leader and Malviya Nagar Assembly seat party candidate Satish Upadhyay said that every officer is operating impartially and with complete honesty.
“Every officer is operating with complete impartiality and honesty. Upadhyay told ANI that if the AAP requests information during an impartial task and if other political parties follow suit, it would have an impact on the process.
In a letter to Delhi’s chief electoral officer on Monday, the New Delhi district election officer said that AAP representatives had been regularly coming to his office and requesting objectors’ personal information, which is against the Election Commission of India’s rules.
According to the letter, “Aam Aadmi Party representatives have been coming to my office a lot and are requesting the personal information of objectors, which is not required to be disclosed in accordance with ECI norms… Additionally, the CM of GNCTD has been summoning me to meetings that don’t have a set agenda. In the past, he has also summoned me to meetings where the topic of electoral rolls was discussed. In order to determine if I am permitted to attend meetings convened by the governing government without a prearranged agenda or any other suitable action as determined by authorities, your kind office is kindly asked to provide insight and direction in this subject.”
A “large-scale” fraud in voter additions and deletions in the New Delhi Assembly seat is occurring, according to earlier claims made by Arvind Kejriwal.
Kejriwal referenced a letter from Chief Minister Atishi to the Delhi Chief Electoral Officer in a post on X.
“There is widespread fraud occurring in the New Delhi assembly’s voter additions and removals. In this letter to the CEC, Delhi Chief Minister Atishi ji presents facts and requests a meeting time,” he added.
In her correspondence with the Delhi CEO, Chief Minister Atishi said, “I am writing to urgently draw your attention towards a significant surge in voter addition and deletion applications in the New Delhi Assembly Constituency over the past few days.”
She said that 13,276 Form-6 were received between October 29, 2024, and January 2, 2025.
“From October 29 to January 2, 6,166 Form-7 were received,” said CM Atishi.
According to draft electoral records released on October 29, 2024, after summary correction, there were 106,873 ballots cast overall. 6,166 votes, or 5.77 percent of all votes, are requested to be removed, she continued.
It is anticipated that Delhi’s assembly elections will take place in February 2025.
In the 2020 assembly elections, the BJP won eight seats while the AAP won 62 of the 70 seats.
