BJP leader V Muralidharan questioned the Congress party’s stand on the issue
BJP leader V Muraleedharan questioned the Congress party‘s position on the issue Thursday amid the controversy surrounding Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s alleged remarks against Sanatan Dharma. He pointed out a contradiction within the Congress, as the state Congress president backed the Chief Minister’s remarks while the Leader of the Opposition in the Kerala Assembly disagreed.
While the Leader of the Opposition and the Kerala Congress leader objected to the Chief Minister’s comments regarding Sanatan Dharma and the term “saffronization,” the state Congress president had supported the Chief Minister’s claim that Sanatan Dharma is a return to casteism and monarchy, according to Muraleedharan.
“Even while the Congress leader of Kerala and the Leader of Opposition in the state assembly disagrees with the Chief Minister’s comments on Sanatan Dharma and opposes the term of saffronization, his own party president of Kerala has supported the statement of the Chief Minister that Sanatan Dharma is nothing but bringing back monarchy and bringing back casteism,” said Muraleedharan.
The BJP representative emphasized that the remarks made by the Kerala Chief Minister were detrimental to Hindu ideology and requested explanation on the Congress party’s stance for the high brass.
“I want to know how Congress feels about this. A significant problem has emerged in Kerala, where the state’s chief minister has attempted to denigrate Hindu thought,” he remarked.
Speaking at the Sivagiri Pilgrimage earlier on Tuesday, Vijayan said that any effort to present the saint and social reformer Sree Narayana Guru as an advocate of Sanatana Dharma is only an example of caste-based Varnashrama Dharma.
Varnashrama Dharma, which is founded on the Chaturvarna system, is inseparable from or identical with Sanatana Dharma. What is upheld by this Varnashrama Dharma? It exalts inherited occupations. However, what was done by Sree Narayana Guru? He urged people to rebel against inherited professions. Therefore, how can a Guru support Sanatana Dharma? The chief minister of Kerala said.
“Guru constantly questioned and disobeyed the Chaturvarna system via his austere existence. Given that Sanatana Dharma is based on the boundaries of a single faith, how can someone who said, “One Caste, One Religion, One God for humankind,” support it? The caste system was challenged by the dharma that the Guru promoted, Vijayan continued.
