Imphal West: In the Imphal West area, Manipur Police detained an active member of the KCP-Noyon gang on suspicion of engaging in extortion and confiscated firearms and ammunition from him. The culprit was identified as Waikhom Loveson Singh (31) by the Manipur police.

On April 6, 2025, Manipur Police apprehended one active KCP (PWG) cadre, Waikhom Loveson Singh (31) of Nagamapal Kangjabi Leirak, Imphal West District, from Nagamapal Kangjabi Leirak under City-PS, Imphal West District, the police stated on X. The individual that was apprehended is engaged in extortion.

Security forces, meanwhile, carried out area dominance and search operations on the outskirts and weak spots of the hill and valley districts.

During an operation, security authorities found a lot of weapons and ammunition in the farmlands under Wangoi Police Station in the Imphal West District, close to the Nambul River.

One SLR with one magazine and two modified magazines was found by the security personnel. One hand grenade, two SBBL, two .303 rifles with magazines, .32 domestic pistol with a magazine, six tube launchers, .303 rifle rounds, twelve AK rifle rounds, two tear gas, and four stun shells.

In addition, they recovered two (2) camouflage uniforms, four (4) BP jackets, seven (7) BP iron plates, one (1) BP plastic plate, one (1) ground sheet, four (4) headgear caps, four (2) camouflage caps, and two (2) rice sacks from Samushang Shantipur, which is located near the Nambul river in the nearby farmlands under Wangoi-PS, Imphal West District.

The Kongba Maru Festival, a major religious and cultural occasion, was celebrated earlier on Sunday in restive Sagolmang in Imphal East, Manipur, with the assistance of the Assam Rifles.

According to the Army, the operations were carried out between April 4 and May 5, 2025, in the hill and valley districts of Imphal West, Kakching, Imphal East, Churachandpur, and Bishnupur in cooperation with the Manipur Police, CRPF, BSF, and ITBP.

A pistol and two cadres were taken into custody by the Army and Manipur Police from the Karpur Sangha in the Imphal East area.
