“I have also complained about the viral video,” Somaiya stated in an interview with the media. An FIR has also been filed by Mumbai police. In addition, I have asked the Information and Broadcasting Ministry and the authorities to verify if the hacker or the individual revealing this had also shared the same content on social media and digital platforms in the same manner during the 2019 elections. I have asked the Mumbai Police and the Election Commission to look into this video and the alleged sting operations carried out by the public and take appropriate action against them.

The Chief Electoral Office tweeted earlier on Sunday about the misleading statements made against the EVMs.
“False Claim Regarding EVM: A video was shared by some social media users where a person is making false, baseless and unsubstantiated claims to hack and tamper with EVMs in Maharashtra elections by isolating EVM frequency,” the tweet said.

S. Chockalingam, the chief electoral officer for Maharashtra, has already threatened severe legal repercussions for anybody disseminating false statements or hints of tampering with electronic voting machines (EVMs).

His remarks coincide with continuing claims of EVM irregularities in the most recent Maharashtra assembly elections made by Maha Vikas Aghadi officials. As authorities further their investigations into the situation, Chockalingam emphasized on Sunday that any efforts to sensationalize these issues would be met with harsh consequences.

The individual is allegedly living overseas, and the Election Commission has filed a formal complaint against him. To make sure the case is followed up on, the commission has written to the appropriate authorities.

To find and arrest anybody in India who is in touch with these people or involved in these nefarious acts, Delhi and Mumbai Police are conducting an intensive investigation and taking the required actions. The official emphasized that no one would be spared since such acts are a severe offense.
