BJP leader Girish Mahajan met Maharashtra’s caretaker Chief Minister Eknath Shinde
Maharashtra: On Monday, Girish Mahajan, a senior of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), met with Eknath Shinde, the state’s acting chief minister. After experiencing a fever and throat infection, Shinde is making a full recovery.
According to Mahajan, they spoke about getting ready for the December 5 swearing-in ceremony of the future Maharashtra Chief Minister during their meeting.
Additionally, he emphasized that there are no disputes among the Mahayuti alliance’s leaders.
“Eknath Shinde, who hasn’t been feeling well for a few days, is the reason I came here. No resentment exists. We spoke for an hour while we were seated together. He also spoke about getting ready for December 5, and I also had some things to say. Following his meeting with Shinde, Girish Mahajan told reporters, “We have a lot of work to do for the people of the state, and we are going to work together for them.”
Shinde had said earlier on Sunday that he was well and had recovered from the fever.
Shinde met with Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP National President JP Nadda in Delhi on Thursday night to discuss the ongoing impasse over the Chief Ministerial role. The meeting was attended by Devendra Fadnavis, who is generally regarded as the front-runner for the Chief Minister’s position, Ajit Pawar, and other Mahayuti leaders.
In the Maharashtra Assembly elections on November 23, the BJP-led Mahayuti coalition won by a landslide. The alliance hasn’t decided on a candidate for chief minister yet, however. In the 280-member Assembly, the BJP gained 132 seats, making it the biggest party. Its partners, the Shiv Sena under Eknath Shinde and the NCP under Ajit Pawar, won 57 and 41 seats, respectively.
The recent Maharashtra elections dealt a serious blow to the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA). Only 16 of the 288 assembly seats were won by Congress, compared to 20 by Shiv Sena (UBT), its coalition partner. Only ten seats were won by the NCP (Sharad Pawar group).
