Awadhesh Prasad: Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar should assess the no-confidence motion against him and change his stance
On Wednesday, Samajwadi Party MP Awadhesh Prasad said that Jagdeep Dhankhar, the chairman of the Rajya Sabha, need to evaluate the resolution of no-confidence against him and reconsider his position.
“The Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha are enormous temples of democracy,” Prasad told media. Solutions to the fundamental issues facing the public and fellow citizens are anticipated to come from this source. In one way or another, the government’s pressure is evident when our Rajya Sabha members attempt to bring up every topic of public concern. The public interest is served by this vote of no confidence.
On the basis of statistics, however, it will fail. This issue will need to be taken into consideration by the Chairman. It is anticipated that the Chairman would alter his position for the sake of his compatriots after gauging the attitude of the members.
This comes after the Secretary General of the Upper House received a resolution of no-confidence from the opposition INDI coalition against Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankar.
According to Congress MP Jairam Ramesh, the opposition filed the motion of no-confidence in order to preserve democracy.
“We moved the vote of no-confidence yesterday in order to preserve democracy…The Minister of Parliamentary Affairs said today that it is a slight to farmers. However, how? The LoP is not allowed to talk by you (BJP). That is an insult to Dalits, isn’t it? According to the chairman of the Rajya Sabha, the Modi government is not paying attention to the aspirations of farmers.
The House Chairman and I are not at odds on a personal level. We weren’t involved in the Rajya Sabha’s adjournment today. The House was not allowed to operate by the government.I’m hoping that tomorrow the House will be operational. We’re prepared to talk. According to several BJP MPs, they share our sentiments about introducing this resolution,” Ramesh said.
According to TMC MP Sushmita Dev, it is the responsibility of the Treasury benches to restore normalcy to the parliament.
“The National Disaster Alliance is known as NDA. Their only goal is to prevent any debate inside the House. The TMC sent two notifications to the Rajya Sabha over inflation and the growing cost of fertilizers. The Parliamentary Affairs Minister ought to be embarrassed about his incapacity to govern the Parliament. We keep repeating that Parliament ought to be managed,” she said.
On November 25, the winter Parliament’s first session began, but because to interruptions, both Houses were adjourned somewhat early. The winter session is scheduled to conclude on December 20.
