Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) B. Shivshankar, Katarniaghat Bahraich, told the media report, “A leopard injured five people this morning (Thursday) at 9:30 AM, and our staff took them to the hospital—three are being treated and two have been referred for further care…”

He went on to say that the wounded will get financial support and that a complaint will be filed by Thursday evening.

To assist in stopping these kinds of assaults, the official advised individuals not to go out by themselves.

“The forest department warns people against going into sugarcane fields by themselves or leaving meat or cattle outdoors in light of the confrontation between humans and nature. Staying in groups or couples might help prevent assaults since leopards prefer to avoid them,” the DFO said.

Shankardayal, one of the victims, told ANI, “… Leopard attacked 5 persons… It wanders about the village and removes pets and kids every day.
