Assam Rifles recover 107 grams of heroin worth Rs 74.90 lakh in Mizoram and arrest three

Mizoram: According to a news release from the Assam Rifles, three people were arrested and 107 grams of heroin valued at Rs 74.90 lakhs were confiscated during two combined operations with the Anti-Narcotics Squad of Mizoram. On November 20, both operations were carried out in the Aizawl and Mizoram communities of Dawrpui and Thuampui.

The third culprit in the second operation was identified as Lalchawisangi (35), a resident of Champhai, Mizoram, while the two captured accused, Lalpeksanga (29), and Lalfamkima (22), are both from the Salem Veng neighborhood in Dawrpui, Aizawl.

On Wednesday, the Assam Rifles and Anti-Narcotics Squad officers carried out two distinct combined operations based on particular information. Suspects transported the contraband in a clear polythene wrapper.

According to the announcement, the whole shipment and the people who were arrested have been turned over to the Mizoram Excise and Narcotics Department’s Anti-Narcotics Squad for further legal action.

In two different raids in Zokhawthar, Mizoram, Assam Rifles and police earlier found a massive shipment of heroin and methamphetamine pills valued at Rs 85.95 crore, authorities said on Wednesday.

Assam Rifles, acting on exact information, confiscated 52 grams of Heroin No. 4 and 28.520 kg of Methamphetamine worth Rs 85.95 crore in two separate operations on November 20 and 24, marking a major victory against drug gangs. According to an official statement, “This significant recovery represents yet another milestone in Assam Rifles’ unrelenting efforts to eradicate the drug menace from Mizoram and safeguard India’s borders against the growing threat of narcotics smuggling.”

After acquiring reliable information on the passage of a suspected shipment over the Tiau River by two individuals, the methamphetamine tablet recovery operation was started. In an effort to avoid apprehension, the traffickers left their shipment behind and fled to Myanmar as the Assam Police and Rifles combined squad closed in. 28.520 kg of methamphetamine pills, worth about Rs 85.56 crore, were recovered after the crew conducted a comprehensive examination of the shipment, according to the report.

In the second operation, a man and a woman from Myanmar were arrested after they were discovered riding a Kenbo bike with 52 grams of Heroin No. 4, which was valued at Rs 39 lakh. According to the statement, the bike, other things, and the confiscated contraband were turned over to the Zokhawthar Police Department for further investigation and legal action.
