Assam Police seizes 66,000 Yaba tablets worth Rs 20 crore in Cachar district
Cachar: According to police, 66,000 Yaba pills valued at Rs 20 crore were found and confiscated by Assam police on Tuesday in the Cachar district. Cachar District Police, under the jurisdiction of Dholai Police Station, launched a special operation against the illegal transportation of narcotic substances at Raj Gobindpur, Baga, along the Assam-Mizoram border based on credible intelligence, according to Numal Mahatta, the district’s superintendent of police.

During the operation, a police squad searched the home of a 36-year-old man named Md. Dil Bahar and found 66,000 Yaba pills hidden behind the fake ceiling. After completing all the procedures, the drug material was confiscated in front of impartial witnesses, according to Numal Mahatta. He said that about Rs 20 crore is the price of the drug on the illegal market.
“Drug detection kits (DDK) examined the recovered narcotic material and found it to be positive. It has been suggested that the illicit psychoactive drug was brought in from a neighboring state. “More legal action is being taken,” said Numal Mahatta.
In a significant operation on Sunday evening, the Assam Police detained two drug dealers in the South Salmara Mankachar area of Assam and confiscated 8,000 Yaba pills valued at Rs 2 crore, according to police.
On the basis of information received, a group of South Salmara Mankachar district police carried out a special anti-drug operation at the Mankachar police station’s Shotimari-II (Indo-Bangladesh Border) area on Sunday evening.
Officials said the operation was prompted by information that a shipment of Yaba pills from a neighboring state was going to be thrown over the fence on Sunday night in order to be smuggled into Bangladesh.
“The consignment was concealed in a heap of sacks of local betel nuts in a house, and the police team seized 8,000 Yaba tablets worth Rs 2 crore,” the official added.
Himanta Biswa Sarma, the chief minister of Assam, praised the police for the operation and said that the confiscated Taba pills were being trafficked into Bangladesh.
