Assam Governor Laxman Prasad Acharya reviews development schemes on his first visit to Tinsukia district
Tinsukia: On his first visit to the Tinsukia district, Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya met with representatives from the district administration and heads of several departments at the District Commissioner Conference Hall in Tinsukia on Sunday to discuss the district’s continuing welfare initiatives.
An outline of the district’s continuing welfare initiatives, which are intended to improve the district’s residents’ quality of life, was provided by District Commissioner Swapneel Paul.
A number of projects from several agencies, including P&RD, PWD, Health and Family Welfare, Education, Forest, Agriculture, and PHE, were evaluated by the governor. In addition, he evaluated the district’s PMAY-G implementation and assessed the financial and material progress made under the MGNREGA program.
In addition, he examined Amrit Sarovar’s development and requested that the DC utilize them as platforms for public gatherings and as leisure areas. He requested that the relevant authorities improve the facilities at such locations.
Acharya requested that authorities speed up the district’s deployment of Functional Household Tap Connections (FHTCs) at the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) assessment. This would ensure that more people, particularly in rural regions, have access to clean drinking water.
Additionally, the governor noted how common single-teacher schools were in the area. He requested that the DC handle elementary school education and deal with the district’s potential student dropout rate. In order to make education more inclusive, he urged the concerned authorities to collaborate via community meetings, village visits, and counseling, emphasizing the value of girls’ education.
The Governor emphasized that the advantages of reasonably priced medications are efficiently disseminated to the general population with regard to the PM Jan Aushadhi Yojana.
The need of using the state’s plentiful water resources to make Assam self-reliant in fish production was emphasized by Acharya, who also evaluated the Fisheries Department’s plans.
The governor was informed by the district administration on the endeavor to reduce confrontations between humans and elephants. Acharya commended the program and emphasized the need of recognizing those who have made important contributions to its success.
MLA Sanjoy Kisan and Labour Welfare Minister Rupesh Goala were also in attendance during the meeting.
