Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma laid the foundation stone of Jorhat City Water Supply Scheme
Assam: In order to promote development and advancement in the Jorhat district, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma initiated a number of revolutionary projects and laid the cornerstone for the Jorhat town water supply system.
Addressing the “long-standing issue faced by the people of Jorhat,” CM Sarma made it possible for the populace to have access to clean drinking water.
“The Drink from Tap (DFT) project will involve a financial outlay of Rs. 220 crore, which will ensure clean and uninterrupted 24X7 water supply by leveraging advanced technology and modern infrastructure,” according to a statement released by the Chief Minister’s Office.
These programs highlight the Assam government’s dedication to the state’s general development and the welfare of its citizens. They cut across a number of areas, including education, industries and commerce and public enterprises, revenue and disaster management, and finance.
“It may be noted that this event marks a significant phase in the government’s” 12 Days of Development “program, which began on December 11 and seeks to accelerate the pace of progress across Assam,” said the announcement.
Under the Assam Microfinance Incentive and Relief Scheme, CM Sarma ceremoniously distributed Rs 223.30 crore in no-dues certificates to Category-III and Phase II borrowers.
According to the CMO’s announcement, the CM also gave Rs 35.337 crore to 686,487 households.
Under the Pradhan Mantri Formalization of Micro Food Processing Enterprises Scheme, CM also provided seed money. 6490 SHG members have received payments totaling Rs. 21.90 crore under the program.
He also emphasized that the Education Department has launched three significant programs to provide pupils significant advantages as part of the “12 Days of Development” effort.
Students who get 75 percent or above on their HSLC examinations will receive cash rewards via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) as part of the Anundoram Borooah Award. These prizes will total around Rs. 12,500 per student. Under the Chief Minister’s Special Scheme, bicycles would be provided to almost 3 lakh Class 9 pupils, the CM said.
He said that many departments—including Finance, Industries and Commerce, Public Enterprises, and Revenue and Disaster Management—are ready to launch a number of projects that would soon directly help millions of people around the state.
In reference to the government’s financial assistance program for women, the chief minister said that the government has given No-Due Certificates, which would allow them to get bank loans.
Additionally, he said that the government intends to provide Rs 15,000 in 2026 as extra financial assistance and confirmed that more would be done to assist these women in obtaining bigger loans from financial institutions.
The “Lakhpati Baideo” program is now being verified and is anticipated to be implemented if local MLAs give their approval. According to the release, the CM said that the goal of this program is to provide Rs 10,000 to female members of self-help groups (SHGs) via banks.
