Assam Cabinet approves important decisions to boost infrastructure and education in the state

Guwahati: A number of significant measures to enhance the state’s infrastructure and educational system were adopted by the Assam Cabinet on Wednesday.

According to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, the administration has made the decision to outlaw the serving and eating of beef in all public areas, hotels, and restaurants in the state.

According to the chief minister, the 2021 Assam Cattle Preservation Act has been effective in guaranteeing the killing of cattle, and “now we have decided to stop the consumption of beef in public places.”

Converting the four-lane section of road that leads to Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport to a six-lane is another decision made by the Cabinet. The state budget has set out an extra Rs. 116 crore for the six-lane road. The project is expected to cost Rs. 474 crore.

In honor of renowned author Dr. Homen Borgohain, the Cabinet has agreed to establish a distinct literary prize for recipients of government pensions. Those who now get another pension would receive a one-time payment of Rs. 50,000. It was agreed that everyone, with the exception of government personnel, would get the monthly literary pension.

The Sanskrit and Pali Tols were transferred from the current Directorate of Higher Education to the Directorate of Secondary Education by the Cabinet.

After the Cabinet meeting, CM Sarma told the reporters that Assam will see a new wave of development since Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to unveil projects worth Rs 1 lakh crore when he visits the Advantage Assam Summit in February of next year.

He went into detail about the projects, including the expansion of the Bongaigaon Refinery to accommodate an extra 5 million MT, the Namruo Fertilizer Plant, the Guwahati Ring Road project, the Kaziranga Elevated Corridor, the Numaligarh-Gohpur road tunnel, the new expressway from Guwahati to Barapani and Panchgram, a bridge over the Brahmaputra connecting Morigaon and Darrang, two satellite townships at Jagiroad and Palasbari, and a railway project that would connect Guwahati to Gelephu in Bhutan.

Additionally, the chief minister of Assam said that on December 7, the state would expand its cabinet.
