On Thursday, AIMIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi expressed confidence that his candidates will win the Central and East Aurangabad seats and would call for Maratha quota in the Assembly.

Owaisi told the media that they are running for 16 seats in accordance with their plan.

“Both seats in Aurangabad will be won by our candidates. The main problem for the locals is drinking water. Roads and drainage are issues, and impoverished people lack homes. Additionally, there is the Maratha reserve. “They will go to the Maharashtra Assembly and demand Maratha reservation if both of them win,” Owaisi said.

Notably, Naseer Siddiqui is running from Aurangabad Central, while Imtiaz Jaleel, a former AIMIM MP, is running from Aurangabad East.

Asaduddin Owaisi conducted a Jaleel campaign at Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar (formerly known as Aurangabad) on Sunday.

After running for 44 seats, the party gained seats in Malegaon Central and Dhule in the 2019 Assembly elections. The AIMIM is only running for 16 seats this time.

The former said that they were interested in running in the Assembly elections with the Maha Vikas Aghadi after Waris Pathan submitted his candidacy as the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) candidate from the Bhiwandi West seat. However, despite many attempts, the alliance did not get in touch with them.

“We had told them, and our Maharashtra President had also written a letter that we should come together to defeat the BJP,” Waris Pathan told the reporters during Maha Vikas Aghadi, but it’s possible that they weren’t interested. They didn’t get in touch with us. We have a political party, and voting is a way to make democracy stronger.

In an attempt to win over voters, the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) and the governing Mahayuti have both stepped up their campaigns for Maharashtra’s 288 assembly seats.

Voting will take place on November 20 and the count will take place on November 23.
