As elections in Maharashtra draw closer, political battles in the state turn violent
Maharashtra Elections: The political battle in Maharashtra has become violent as the state’s elections approach. The Shiv Sena, headed by Eknath Shinde, claims that Shiv Sena (UBT) members in the Jogeshwari assembly seat have attacked its female employees.
Two ‘Sena’ party workers reportedly got into a fight at Jogeshwari Matoshree Club on Tuesday evening, November 12.
Sheetal Mhatre, the head of the Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde), said that late Tuesday night, UBT employees assaulted and “torn” the clothing of her party’s female employees.
“UBT’s Jogeshwari assembly constituency candidate’s workers attacked the women workers of Shiv Sena—they tried to videograph, tore their clothes, and later attacked one of the woman’s cars and followed her to her residence,” Sheetal Mhatre informed the press.
“A few of them were half murderers and crooks. They are attempting to incite panic and sabotage the peaceful electoral process taking place in Maharashtra since they are aware that they will lose the polls,” she said.
She claimed to have informed Chief Minister Eknath Shinde about the event and to have called for police to take action against the criminals.
“But we will not let this happen; we talked to our Chief Minister, Shinde Sahab, and police action will be taken against them, and the work of taking control of everything has started,” Mhatre said.
“I would want to know what your guys are doing, Uddhav Ji. I would want to know what Aditya and Rashmi Thackeray are doing. This is how your guys are targeting Maharashtra’s women,” she asked.
On November 20, voters will cast ballots in 288 Maharashtra assembly seats, and on November 23, the results will be tallied.
Earlier, PM Modi mostly targeted the Congress in his remarks at election rallies in Chimur, Solapur, and Pune. He said that the party was “looting people” in Karnataka and that the money was being utilized to fight elections.
Additionally, he criticized the opposing Maha Vikas Aghadi, claiming that there is a struggle over who would drive their vehicle and that it lacks brakes and wheels.
Congress wants one caste to fight another because it is dissatisfied with your togetherness. Will you let this plot get away with it? My call to you is “hum ek hain to safe hain” (we are safe if we are unified),” he continued, since we must remain united in order to reject Congress’s perilous ambitions.
The Mahayuti alliance, which consists of the BJP, Eknath Shinbde-led Shiv Sena, and Ajit Pawar-led NCP, will compete in Mahrashtra in a two-way race against Maha Vikas Aghadi, which is made up of the Congress, Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena, and Sharad Pawar-led NCP.
