Arvind Kejriwal claimed that the BJP has hurt millions of followers of Bhimrao Ambedkar by removing his photo from the Delhi Chief Minister’s office

New Delhi: Arvind Kejriwal, national convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), said Monday that the removal of a picture of the nation’s first law minister from the Delhi Chief Minister’s office by the new BJP-led administration has offended millions of BR Ambedkar supporters.

“The new BJP government of Delhi removed Babasaheb’s photo and put up the photo of Prime Minister Modi,” the former Delhi chief minister stated in his X post. This is incorrect. Millions of Babasaheb’s supporters have been harmed by this.

“I have a request to BJP,” the AAP leader said, pleading with the party not to take down Ambedkar’s picture. You may include the Prime Minister’s picture, but keep Babasaheb’s portrait in place. Leave his picture there.

Atishi, the former chief minister of Delhi and the leader of the opposition in the Delhi Assembly, had earlier today said that the BJP had an anti-Sikh and anti-Dalit mindset.

“BJP has revealed its true anti-Dalit and anti-Sikh face,” Atishi said in a post on X. Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh and Babasaheb Bhim Rao Ambedkar’s pictures have been taken down from the Delhi Legislative Assembly’s Chief Minister’s Office.

She included two photos with her X post: one of her at the CM office with Rekha Gupta and another of herself as CM. On the wall behind her in the first picture were pictures of Ambedkar, while the picture of the newly elected chief minister, Gupta, included pictures of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President Droupadi Murmu, and Mahatma Gandhi.

Today, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and the newly elected MLAs took the oath of office to begin the first session of the eighth Delhi Assembly.
Atishi said that the BJP had taken Ambedkar’s and Bhagat Singh’s pictures out of all government offices at a news conference after meeting with Chief Minister Rekha Gupta in her chamber.

She stated, “The Bharatiya Janata Party’s anti-Dalit mindset is well recognized. Its anti-Dalit mindset has been shown today. In every Delhi government office, Arvind Kejriwal has displayed pictures of Shaheed Bhagat Singh and Babasaheb Ambedkar. Both of these images have been taken out of the Chief Minister’s office after the BJP took control. This demonstrates that the BJP is an anti-Sikh and anti-Dalit party.

Concerns were also voiced by Atishi over the Mahila Samman Yojana’s implementation delays, which Prime Minister Narendra Modi had promised.

According to her statement to ANI, “We had asked for time from the Chief Minister for the last two days; we did not get time for two days, and today we went to meet Chief Minister Rekha Gupta ji during the session.”

She further said that the BJP had failed to keep its pledges. “Modi has not fulfilled his pledge to implement the Mahila Samman Yojana at the first cabinet meeting. The prime minister’s assurance is not true.

According to Atishi, the program that was meant to provide Delhi’s women financial support has not been put into action. She called on the Delhi administration to fulfill its promises.
