Arunachal Pradesh Governor attends closing ceremony of 62nd Walong Day celebrations
Arunachal Pradesh: At Walong in the Anjaw district on Thursday, Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lieutenant General KT Parnaik (Retd.) took part in the month-long 62nd Walong Day celebration.
In honor of the brave warriors of the Indian military, he put a wreath at the Walong War Memorial during the event.
On the occasion, he also congratulated the families of the local residents who helped the Indian Army with its operations during the 1962 War, the next generation of war heroes, and the veterans of that conflict.
Speaking to an audience at Walong Stadium, the governor noted that Walong Day honors the bravery of our people during the India-China War.
“Their unbreakable spirit is shown by their bravery in the face of hardship and their unyielding commitment to the country’s sovereignty. Everyone is still motivated by their legacy, which serves as a reminder of the importance of unwavering resolve, courage, and “Naam, Namak aur Nishan,” the governor of Arunachal Pradesh said.
The Governor praised Dao Division (2 Mountain Division) and Spear Corps (4 Corps) for their outstanding efforts to preserve our soldiers’ tales and help future generations comprehend the importance of their sacrifices.
He expressed gratitude to everyone who attended, saying that their presence had enhanced the remembrance and made it a suitable homage to the brave Walong troops.
While offering his wishes for Children’s Day, the Governor expressed his satisfaction with the involvement of schoolchildren and NCC cadets, saying that their presence fills with hope and pride.
He said that their passionate and enthusiastic participation demonstrates the groundwork for a prosperous and safe future for the country.
The governor encouraged the young people to follow the honorable path of serving the country with the same bravery and commitment shown by the Walong heroes. They are the country’s future, he said, and their dedication may have a big impact.
The governor urged the populace to preserve the values of duty, honor, and patriotism while preserving the spirit of Walong. He asked them to make a commitment to upholding the memory of heroes and working for a future that embodies the principles that the war heroes defended.
Arunachal Pradesh is making tremendous strides in all areas of development, according to Governor General KT Parnaik, and the Indian military has a role to play. He urged the populace to maintain their camaraderie and fortify their joint endeavor, which would promote border security as well as peace and prosperity inside the state.
The governor spoke with participants in the Walong Half Marathon, river rafting trips, bike expeditions, battlefield and adventure treks, and automobile and motorcycle rallies.
He said that their involvement has enhanced both Arunachal Pradesh’s unspoiled tourist potential and the spirit of nationalism.
Over a high tea, the governor also engaged with veterans, Gaon Burahs, the Indian Army, Indian Air Force, the Border Road Organization, the Indo-Tibetan Border Police, the NCC, and the district officers of the Anjaw District Administration.
Additionally speaking at the event were Commander 82 Mountain Brigade and General Officer Commanding, 3 Corps Lt Gen Abhijit S Pendharkar.
With traditional dances, the Mishmi and Meyor communities eagerly took part in the performance. The world-renowned ancient Indian fighting technique known as “Kalaripayattu” was shown by Indian Army forces. The NE Warriors team also showcased Northeastern martial arts.
Senior military officers, State Police, GOC, 2 Div Major General VS Deshpande, Deputy Commissioner Millo Kojeen, State Chief Information Commissioner, and Major General Jarken Gamlin (Retd) attended the event.
Many Indian Army units that took part in the 1962 Sino-Indian War in Walong Sector, such as the 6 Kumaon, 4 Sikh, 4 Dogra, 3/3 and 2/8 Gorkha Rifles, and 2 Assam Rifles, as well as veterans, attended the final.
Under the auspices of 4 Corps, the 2 Mountain Division created Walong Day to honor the ‘Battle of Walong’ in 1962. People’s feeling of patriotism and ‘Nation First’ attitude has been reignited by the historical event, which also brought to light the bravery and sacrifices made by the Indian military throughout the war.
