Anupam Kher paid tribute to Dr. Manmohan Singh and made this revelation
Actor Anupam Kher expressed his sadness on social media on Friday after former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh passed away.
Kher, who played the former prime minister in the 2019 movie “The Accidental Prime Minister,” sent a video message on Instagram expressing his sincere admiration.
“I am very grieved to learn of the passing of Dr. Manmohan Singh, the former Prime Minister of India! Alongside the video, Kher added, “It felt like I actually spent that much time with him after studying him for over a year for the movie #TheAccidentalPrimeMinister.”
“He was a decent guy by nature. Personally, I’m a really modest, honest, and excellent economist. Perhaps not a wise politician, some could argue! My deepest sympathies go out to his family. He went on, “Om Shanti!”
Kher also discussed his early reluctance to accept the job in the video, disclosing that he had originally turned down the opportunity to portray Dr. Manmohan Singh.
He voiced worries that viewers would misunderstand the film’s contentious theme and believe he was mocking the former prime minister.
But Kher said that he had a great deal of respect for Dr. Singh after researching his life and personality in great detail for the movie.
He remembered that he had met Dr. Singh a couple of times at functions, and that he was deeply impacted by Singh’s humility and appreciation of Kher’s performance in the movie.
“I shall miss the guy with the blue turban; he was a kind man. “The country has lost a leader and a great human being,” Kher said.
Based on Sanjaya Baru’s biography, “The Accidental Prime Minister” is a biographical political drama that follows Dr. Singh’s tenure as prime minister of India from 2004 to 2014.
Singh’s connection with the Congress Party and the political difficulties he had while serving are examined in the movie.
Prior to this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also expressed his tributes to Dr. Manmohan Singh, describing his death as a national tragedy.
India laments the demise of one of its most illustrious leaders, PM Modi said in a sympathy message on X (previously Twitter).
“India laments the passing of Dr. Manmohan Singh Ji, one of its most illustrious leaders. He became a renowned economist after rising from modest beginnings. He also held a number of government posts, including Finance Minister, and throughout the years, he had a significant influence on our economic strategy,” PM Modi said.
“Dr. Manmohan Singh Ji and I interacted regularly when he was PM and I was the CM of Gujarat,” PM Modi, who worked closely with Singh when Singh was Prime Minister and he was Gujarat’s Chief Minister, said. We would discuss a wide range of governance-related topics in-depth. His humility and knowledge were always evident.
From 2004 until 2014, Dr. Singh had two terms as prime minister before dying at the age of 92 from age-related illnesses.
He gained appreciation in India and elsewhere for his leadership during pivotal times of economic changes and global issues.
Following the Congress-led UPA’s defeat in the 2014 general elections, he was replaced by Narendra Modi.
