Amritsar police said, the person who opened fire on Sukhbir Singh Badal at Golden Temple has a criminal record
According to Amritsar Police on Wednesday, the guy who shot Sukhbir Singh Badal at the city’s Golden Temple has a criminal history, and weapons have been found on him in the past.
Badal was shot this morning by the assailant, Narain Singh Chaura, on the grounds of the Golden Temple in Amritsar, where the SAD leader was doing penance in accordance with the religious penalties prescribed by Sri Akal Takht Sahib.
Amritsar Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said, “We will have to check records because there are multiple cases registered against him (Chaura) and weapons were recovered from him in the past.”
The Punjab Chief Minister’s Office claims that the police apprehended the assailant and stopped the attempted murder. The effort did not injure Badal.
Police Commissioner Bhullar praised the police for being vigilant in stopping the former deputy chief minister of the state from being assassinated.
“This assault attempt was thwarted because to our police’s deployment and awareness. Our staff members Parminder, Jasbir, and Rishpal Singh were vigilant and stopped the efforts. An assailant with a criminal history, Narayan Singh Chaura, has been taken into custody. A case has been filed. “Sukhbir Singh Badal’s security was adequately arranged,” he said.
According to Bhullar, more research is being conducted.
As part of the ‘tankhah’ religious penalty meted out by the Akal Takht Board for religious wrongdoing during his term from 2007 to 2017, Badal was seated at the Golden Temple’s entrance with a plaque card around his neck at the time of the attempted assassination. Harjinder Singh Dhami, the president of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, promised that the Gurudwara will also conduct a comprehensive inquiry into the event.
“We’ll thoroughly research this using our sources. I believe the police have apprehended and removed the perpetrator. Sukhbir Singh Badal was rescued by Guru Ram Das.He said, “We are investigating the security arrangements.”
“It is very sad that there has been an attempt to kill him,” said Samajwadi Party MP Ram Gopal Yadav.
In August, Akal Takht pronounced religious penalty for Badal and labeled him a ‘tankhaiya’ (guilty of religious misbehavior). Badal, who was Punjab’s Deputy Chief Minister from 2007 to 2017, is doing “sewadar” tasks at the Golden Temple, such as cleaning the restrooms, shoes, and utensils. Citing the “mistakes” and “some decisions” made by SAD and its administration in Punjab between 2007 and 2017, the Akal Takht imposed sanctions on him.
