Allahabad High Court orders cleaning of Sambhal mosque premises before Ramadan
Sambhal: The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) said that whitewashing is not required, thus the Allahabad High Court ordered the Sambhal Mosque’s grounds to be cleaned before Ramadan. The Masjid Committee is expected to oppose.

Vishnu Kumar Sharma, an advocate for ASI Sambhal, stated: “The Jama Masjid Committee requested that ASI clean Sambhal Mosque; however, ASI denied their request. According to ASI, approval for whitewashing cannot be granted while the matter is sub judice. The High Court was then consulted by the Masjid Committee. HC established an inquiry committee. Cleaning activities may be undertaken, according to HC. The ASI report will serve as the basis for any future orders.
According to Sambhal SP KK Bishnoi, people are deeply involved in the celebrations.
“There is peace in the city,” he stated. Police officers are deployed appropriately, and PAC is present. We will completely carry out the court’s ruling on the ground, since it is the responsibility of the police. Before Friday prayers, police are on high alert.
The Allahabad High Court ordered a three-member committee to supervise the mosque’s painting before Ramadan, authorities said Thursday, increasing security in the Shahi Jama Masjid neighborhood of Sambhal.
To make sure the work was done without causing structural harm to the mosque, Justice Rohit Ranjan Agarwal ordered a panel made up of representatives from the local government, a scientific expert, and representatives from the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI).
There are strict security measures in place surrounding the venue, Sambhal ASP Shrish Chandra said in the media report. “The contested location is surrounded by strict security measures. A sufficient number of police officers have been sent out. There will be peace. Drones and CCTV are being used for surveillance,” he said. Ameeque Jamei, the spokesman for the Samajwadi Party (SP), promised that Sambhal will be peaceful.
“Homes all around the nation are painted and cleaned for Diwali. Likewise, mosques are cleaned and painted before Ramadan. Instead of being embroiled in politics, I think the ASI should provide its full support. Those who are trying to break Sambhal’s togetherness will fail. He assured ANI that Sambhal would be intact.
In six of the twelve instances of violence that broke out in Sambhal on November 24 during the ASI’s inspection of the Mughal-era mosque, the Uttar Pradesh police’s SIT submitted a chargesheet totaling more than 4,000 pages earlier this month.
