Alia Bhatt opens up about her ADHD diagnosis
Alia Bhatt has spoken out about her battle with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and how difficult it is for her to stay in the moment. The actress, who is now receiving accolades for her role in Jigra, said in an interview that she had always dozed off during chats but was unaware that she had ADHD. “I was a zone-out kid from the beginning.
I used to lose myself in a discussion or the lecture. I just completed a psychological exam, and the results showed that I had a high ADHD spectrum. Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder is what I have. All my pals said was “we always knew” when I informed them about it. This is not some kind of epiphany. However, I was unaware of it,” Alia said in a discussion with The Lallantop.
According to Alia Bhatt, there aren’t many times in her life when she feels completely present. She experiences one of them while her daughter Raha is around. “I realized why I feel comfortable in front of the camera,” she said. That’s when I’m most present. Every time I stand in front of the camera, I embody the persona I’m portraying. And at that instant, I’m totally present. And I am most present now, after Raha, when I am with her.
There are only two times in my life where I feel more at ease.
Alia Bhatt said that she had been diagnosed with ADHD back in September. In an interview, the actress said that she uses a makeup chair for no more than 45 minutes at a time. “It must be something you can complete rapidly. Since I have ADD, I’m not interested in putting in a lot of time. Whatever is to be done has to get done quickly,” Alia said to Allure Magazine.
She went on, “My makeup artist Puneet (B Saini) said to me, ‘Alia, you need to give me two hours this time.'” I said to her, You’re crazy. I want to relax, therefore I’m not giving you two hours, especially on my wedding day.”
In 2022, Alia Bhatt wed actor Ranbir Kapoor in their Mumbai home. Raha, the couple’s daughter, is now a parent.
On October 11, Alia Bhatt’s Jigra had its theatrical premiere. She will next appear in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love & War with hubby Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal, who costarred in Raazi. Alongside Sharvari Vagh, the actress will also be featured in YRF’s Alpha.
