Akhilesh Yadav expressed grief over the casualties of devotees in the accident “due to mismanagement” in Maha Kumbh
New Delhi: Akhilesh Yadav, the leader of the Samajwadi Party, has expressed sorrow for the deaths of pilgrims in an accident “caused by mismanagement” at Prayagraj’s Maha Kumbh. Additionally, he advised the followers to practice self-control.
In a post on X, Akhilesh Yadav said, “It is very sad to learn that devotees were killed in an accident that was caused by poor management in Maha Kumbh.”
“With the assistance of air ambulances, seriously injured individuals should be transported to the closest top hospitals and receive prompt medical attention,” we urge our government to do.
Plans should be put in place to identify the deceased’s remains, give them to their kin, and transport them to their home. – Reuniting people who have been separated should be a top priority. – “Helicopters should be used effectively to enhance surveillance,” he said.
According to the SP head, the relief efforts should be carried out concurrently with the Shahi Snan of Mauni Amavasya.
“Keeping the unbroken tradition of ‘Shahi Snan’ going on since the Satya Yuga, arrangements should be made to conduct the ‘Shahi Snan of Mauni Amavasya’ amidst safe management parallel to relief work,” he said.
“We also urge the followers to be patient and restrained during this trying period so they may finish their trip in peace. After today’s occurrence, the government has to take note and make more plans for the devotees’ lodging, food, water, and other necessities. “I hope everyone hurt in the accident gets well soon,” he said.
“Heartbreaking” is how the Samajwadi Party described the “stampede” at the Maha Kumbh in a post on X. The Uttar Pradesh administration was asked by the party to expedite the rescue and relief efforts.
“So sad! It is devastating to learn about pilgrims being hurt in a stampede at Prayagraj Maha Kumbh. May the departed find peace in their spirits. I hope the wounded get well soon. Sincere sympathies to the families of the deceased. “The government ought to expedite relief and rescue efforts,” SP said in a post on X.
Mallikarjun Kharge, the president of the Congress, said that the government was more focused on promoting itself than on the Mela preparations.
“It is heartbreaking to learn of the stampede on the banks of Teerthraj Sangam during the Maha Kumbh, which claimed many lives and wounded several more. We send our sincere sympathies to the devotees’ families and hope that the wounded people recover quickly. This is the result of poorly thought-out plans, VIP mobility, self-promotion taking precedence over management, and poor management. Such arrangements are unacceptable even if hundreds of millions of rupees have been spent.
Since many significant royal baths remain, the federal and state governments must take note and make necessary improvements to ensure that such unfortunate occurrences do not occur again. VIP movement should be limited, and arrangements for lodging, food, first assistance, and devotee mobility should be increased. “This is also what our sages and saints desire,” he continued.
In the meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reviewed the situation at the ongoing Mahakumbh Mela in Prayagraj on Wednesday with Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh. Immediate assistance measures were demanded by the prime minister.
According to Special Executive Officer Akanksha Rana, several barricades breached in the early hours of Wednesday, resulting in a “stampede-like” scenario that injured people. She did, however, add that the wounded were being treated and that the condition was not serious.
On the day of the second Shahi Snan, “Mauni Amavasya,” an estimated 80–100 million people were anticipated to attend. February 3 (Basant Panchami, or Third Shahi Snan), February 12 (Maghi Purnima), and February 26 (Maha Shivaratri) are other important bathing days during the Maha Kumbh.
