Ajay Rai said that SP will give full support for Milkipur assembly by-election
Ayodhya: Ajay Rai, the president of the Uttar Pradesh Congress, said on Tuesday that his party would fully back the Samajwadi Party (SP) in the January 5 by-elections for the Milkipur Assembly. “In Milkipur, we will extend full support to our ally Samajwadi Party’s candidate,” Ajay Rai told the media report.
Girish Pati Tripathi, the mayor of Ayodhya, emphasized that the by-elections provide the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) a chance to “right the wrongs” of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections in Ayodhya.
“We were anticipating the by-elections in Milkipur. It is a chance to make amends for the injustices caused by the Ayodhya Lok Sabha elections. Additionally, the public is eager to back the BJP and deliver the right message in the Milkipur by-elections, Tripathi said.
Tripathi further underlined that Ayodhya’s development and job prospects will be the main topics of the BJP’s by-election program.
“Ayodhya’s employment and growth prospects will be on the election agenda. The opposition accomplished nothing for Milkipur; they simply worked for their families. Thus, the public will respond this time,” he said.
Following the departure of Samajwadi Party MP Awadhesh Prasad, who resigned the seat to run in the Lok Sabha Election from the Faizabad Lok Sabha Constituency, the election for the Milkipur seat became necessary. He significantly beat Lallu Singh of the BJP, which further hurt the NDA in Uttar Pradesh.
The NDA alliance was held at 36 of the 80 seats, while the INDIA coalition took 43 seats, with the SP leading 37 of those seats.
However, the Samajwadi Party only won two of the nine seats up for grabs, while the BJP witnessed a comeback in the assembly by-elections, winning six seats and its ally, the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RJD), winning one.
Milkipur will cast its ballot on February 5, and the results will be declared on February 8, according to the Election Commission of India (ECI).
January 17 is the deadline for submitting nominations, while January 18 is the day for nomination scrutiny.
The deadline for candidates to withdraw is January 20.
