Air India Express: After a stressful two and a half hour flight in the air, AIX flight makes a safe emergency landing at Tiruchirapalli airport
Air India Express: An Air India Express (AIX) aircraft carrying 140 people made a safe emergency landing at Tiruchirapalli airport on Friday after spending two and a half tense hours in the air. Shortly after takeoff, the plane encountered mechanical difficulties and was forced to land in a holding pattern above the city in order to burn off fuel before heading back to the airport.
Although the airline subsequently explained that no formal emergency had been reported by the pilots of flight AIX613 to Sharjah, airport personnel made preparations for an emergency by sending ambulances and firefighting trucks.
The aircraft reported a mechanical problem, according to Air India, and as a cautious step to save weight and fuel owing to the length of the runway, it circled the approved area many times before making a safe precautionary landing.
“Reports in the media about an Air India Express flight that runs between Tiruchirappalli and Sharjah are brought to our attention. The airline released a statement saying, “We would like to clarify that the operational crew did not declare an emergency.
“Another plane is being organized for our guests’ further travel in the meantime. The spokeswoman for Air India Express said, “We apologize for any inconvenience and reaffirm our commitment to putting safety first in all facets of our business operations.
Regarding the technical difficulty that the Air India Express aircraft from Tiruchirappalli to Sharjah encountered, Trichy District Collector Pradeep Kumar made the following statement: “There was a landing issue in a flight which is from Tiruchirapalli to Sharjah.” He clarified that as soon as the problem was discovered, the airport and air traffic control were contacted by the authorities.
He claimed, “We were in contact with the air traffic signal and the airport authority.” He also said that nearby medical teams had been called in. The medical team in and around Tiruchirapalli has been mobilized by us. “The pilot prevented the passengers from dying,” said Kumar.
