After the murder of Baba Siddiqui, Lawrence Bishnoi gang gave this warning
The Lawrence Bishnoi gang has not only admitted to killing Baba Siddique, but it has also promised to kill anybody who aids Salman Khan, the star, whose home it has previously fired warning shots near.
Following the death of Mr. Siddique, a former Maharashtra minister and three-time MLA, on Saturday night in Bandra East, close to his son Zeeshan Siddique’s office, rumors of a Bishnoi gang connection to the audacious murder started to circulate. This was verified on Sunday after a Facebook post attributed to Shubuu Lonkar, who is thought to be an associate of the Bishnoi gang Shubham Rameshwar Lonkar, indicating culpability.
Although Lonkar is incarcerated, authorities said that his brother Pravin Lonkar, who was taken into custody on Sunday night, wrote the message.
In the article, Lonkar said that Siddique was slain because he was close to Salman Khan, connected to Dawood Ibrahim, India’s most wanted terrorist, and because Anuj Thapan, one of the suspects who had been captured in the shooting outside Mr. Khan’s residence, had died while in police custody.
On May 1, Thapan was discovered dead inside the Mumbai Crime Branch detention facility. His relatives claimed he was mistreated while in jail, despite the police’s allegation that he committed himself.
Lonkar stated in Hindi on the Facebook post, “We do not have any enmity with anyone but whoever helps Salman Khan and the Dawood gang, keep your accounts in order (‘hisab-kitaab kar lena’).” According to police, they are confirming the post’s legitimacy.
A five-year cold war between Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan was settled during Siddique’s ‘iftar’ celebration in 2013, since he was well-known for throwing extravagant parties.
According to police sources, since last year, the Bishnoi gang has assaulted at least two celebrities because they are thought to be linked to Salman Khan. On Saturday, Mr. Khan went to the hospital where Siddique was confined after his shooting, and on Sunday, he also went to his home.
The Bishnoi gang claimed responsibility for firing bullets at Punjabi musician Gippy Grewal’s Vancouver, Canada, home in November 2023, citing Grewal’s admiration of Mr. Khan and treatment of him “like a brother” as justification.
Shots were fired close to the Vancouver home of another Punjabi musician, AP Dhillon, in September of this year. Renowned Lawrence Bishnoi gang member Rohit Godara has claimed the shooting was the group’s creation. Following the release of the music video for his song “Old Money,” which featured Salman Khan, Mr. Dhillon was fired.
Why does Salman Khan exist?
The Bishnoi gang has stated that it wants to kill Salman Khan for his alleged involvement in shooting blackbucks at Bawad in Mathania near Jodhpur in September 1998, during the filming of “Hum Saath Saath Hain.” The Bishnoi gang rose to notoriety after claiming to be responsible for the murder of musician Sidhu Moose Wala in 2022.
The Bishnoi people, who revere the blackbuck, was offended by the purported behavior.
In 2018, Lawrence Bishnoi said in court, “We will kill Salman Khan in Jodhpur.” When we act, everyone will know. They are accusing me of crimes without any evidence, even though I haven’t done anything.”
Increased Security
In the meanwhile, security has been increased around Salman Khan’s Bandra residence, the Galaxy Apartments, where a shooting incident occurred on April 14. Subsequently, Mr. Khan informed the police that he thought the Bishnoi gang was behind the shooting, planning to murder him and his family.
Malabar Hill in South Mumbai, home to the houses of Deputy Chief Ministers Ajit Pawar and Devendra Fadnavis, as well as Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, has also been cordoned off with heavy security. Earlier this year, Siddique—who had served in the Congress for 48 years—joined Mr. Pawar’s party.
