After the meeting of Lok Sabha leaders, Kiren Rijiju said this
After several days of disruption due to opposition party demands, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said following a meeting of floor leaders that members were concerned about the impasse and “everyone has accepted that discussions will be held from tomorrow” that the Parliament would resume its regular operations on Tuesday.
The opposition has often called for adjournments of both Houses of Parliament, especially to examine the Adani problem, the unrest in Sambhal, and the situation in Manipur.
Speaker of the Lok Sabha Om Birla convened a meeting of political party floor leaders in his chamber on Monday afternoon in an attempt to end the impasse.
Following the meeting, Rijiju told reporters that the two Houses of Parliament will discuss the listed agenda, which included legislation.
The speaker, Om Birla, met with the floor leaders of all parties today. The Parliament has been in a standstill for a few days, and everyone is worried about it.
We also said that all elected officials attend the Indian Parliament to voice their opinions, and it is not good that the Parliament has been operating (correctly) for a number of days. This was acknowledged by everybody,” he stated.
According to the minister, opposition parties made a number of requests.
He said that the administration had approved a plan to have a constitutional debate before the Business Advisory Committee.
“We shall have a constitutional debate on December 13–14. Everyone has agreed that the Lok Sabha will be the primary venue for the debate. The Rajya Sabha will have a debate on December 16–17,” he said.
According to Rijiju, the speaker of the Lok Sabha informed the group that there is a rule for anybody who want to bring up a concern.
“You may send out a notice for it, but it’s not a good idea to cause a commotion in Parliament and interfere with its operations. This has been acknowledged by everybody. It’s fantastic that everyone has agreed that tomorrow will be the start of the conversations. Following talks in the Lok Sabha, the first bill will be passed tomorrow. The Rajya Sabha will also approve listed businesses. I urge all opposition MPs and leaders once again to make sure that the Parliament runs smoothly in light of the agreements made today. As a result of this arrangement, the Parliament will operate efficiently starting tomorrow. “This is something I hope will happen,” he remarked.
Congressman Gaurav Gogoi, TDP’s Lavu Sri Krishna Devarayalu, DMK’s TR Baalu, NCP(SP) leader Supriya Sule, Samajwadi Party’s Dharmendra Yadav, Janata Dal-United member Dileshwar Kamait, RJD’s Abhay Kushwaha, TMC’s Kalyan Banerjee, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Arvind Sawant, and CPI(M) leader K Radhakrisnan were among those in attendance at the floor leaders’ meeting.
According to Gaurav Gogoi, the opposition has been calling for a debate on the Indian Constitution in both Houses of Parliament to commemorate the document’s 75th anniversary of adoption.
Kalyan Banerjee said he hoped Parliament will start operating normally again tomorrow.
“I hope the House will start tomorrow. That’s what we all agreed upon. On December 13 and 14, there will be a conversation on the Indian Constitution.Tomorrow, he added, the Speaker would permit a debate on the Sambhal event and the Bangladesh situation.
Since the start of the Winter Session, opposition parties’ demonstrations have caused parliamentary processes to stop. Both Houses were adjourned until noon on Monday and then for the remainder of the day.
November 25 marked the start of Parliament’s winter session, which will last until December 20.
