After the earthquake near the Nepal-China border area, tremors were also felt in Bihar Sheohar district

Patna: Authorities said that an earthquake along the Nepal-China border area on Tuesday morning caused tremors in Bihar‘s Sheohar district.

Northeast of Lobuche, Nepal, the earthquake struck at a depth of 93 kilometers.

Nonetheless, the National Centre for Seismology (NCS) reports that the earthquake was detected at 6:35 AM (IST) and that its epicenter was 10 kilometers deep and situated at latitude 28.86 degrees North and longitude 87.51 degrees East. It was determined that the quake occurred in the Tibetan Autonomous Region of Xizang, which is close to Nepal.

A tweet from the NCS said, “EQ of M: 7.1, On: 07/01/2025 06:35:18 IST, Lat: 28.86 N, Long: 87.51 E, Depth: 10 Km, Location: Xizang.”
Additionally, two additional earthquakes occurred in the area later in the morning, according to NCS data.

At 7:02 AM IST, a magnitude 4.7 earthquake was detected, with a 10-kilometer depth and an epicenter located at latitude 28.60 degrees North and longitude 87.68 degrees East.

At 7:07 AM IST, a second earthquake of magnitude 4.9 struck, with a 30-kilometer depth and an epicenter in latitude 28.68 degrees North and longitude 87.54 degrees East.

There have been no reports of injuries or damage so far. We’re waiting for more information.
