The police have taken aggressive steps to maintain safety and order in the city as a result of the growing number of devotees vying for the darshan of Ram Lalla, the venerated baby form of Lord Ram.

Police in Ayodhya separated the city into six zones and eleven sectors after seeing the spike in devotees during the current Mahakumbh.

Madhuvan Kumar Singh, the SP for Ayodhya, said on Monday that the number of devotees is growing every day. People have flocked to Ayodhya Dham to have darshan of Lord Shri Ram and Hanuman ji since the start of the Maha Kumbh Mela in order to take a bath during the event. Since the morning, thousands of devotees have gathered here to participate in darshan and swim in the Sarayu River.

He said that the Deputy Superintendent of Police has been assigned to the sector level, while the Upper Superintendent of Police has been sent to the zonal level.

“The whole Ayodhya Dham has been split up into six zones and eleven sectors for security purposes, and police presence has been mandated.

Inspectors, deputy inspectors, constables, and female police officers have been stationed at a number of static and diversion sites. For the devotees, a path has been prepared, and they are receiving darshan by constructing a path to enter on one side and exit on the other,” he said.

He said that as the number of devotees increases, they are put in certain holding places that have been determined.

Earlier on Monday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath praised Prime Minister Modi’s leadership for reviving the nation’s trust and respect throughout the world and cited Prayagraj, Kashi, and Ayodhya as examples of Uttar Pradesh’s revolutionary success.

He said that because of the region’s economic progress and respect for religion, the number of devotees visiting Ayodhya has increased dramatically from 2.35 lakh in 2016–17 to around 14–15 crore in 2024.
