Aditya Thackeray compared Eknath Shinde’s threat to Kunal Kamra to Taliban
Mumbai: Aditya Thackeray, an MLA for the Shiv Sena (UBT), compared the Taliban to Shiv Sena MP Eknath Shinde’s threat against stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra on Monday after his comments at a gig in Mumbai caused a huge commotion.

“I saw Kunal Kamra’s video yesterday, after the demonstration and destruction. When did Eknath Shinde’s employees conclude that he was a thief and traitor? He must have been referring to someone because he hasn’t taken anyone’s name. What caused their injuries? Will the Chief Minister put an end to his hooliganism? The whole nation and the entire globe are aware of the identity of the thief and traitor.
Kunal Kamra has often discussed us, a lot of other individuals, and Modi Sahab as well, but nobody has responded this way. According to the Chief Minister, individuals responsible for vandalism in Nagpur would be held accountable for the damages. Will those responsible for yesterday’s vandalism have to make up the difference? The CM has to wake up and realize who is trying to undermine him. Is it his allies or the opposition? remarked Aditya Thackeray.
After the Habitat Comedy Club in Khar, where Kamra’s performance was taped, was vandalized, the junior Thackeray asked if there would be an international concert.
“The poem contains the terms thief and traitor. When did the band of thieves determine that Eknath Shinde was the culprit? He has been likened to a serpent by his MP. Will this vandalism affect the worldwide concert? Eknath Shinde is a traitor and a thief, as activists have shown,” Thackeray remarked.
“I denounce Mhaske; his comparison to a snake was inappropriate. MPs are being seen as hostile for the first time, just the way the Taliban once were. We’re discussing law and order. He said, “Who is supporting the Home Department?”
“Whether or not the Chief Minister will put a check on Taporigiri or not is also a question. There is no need for a supari, etc. Kunal Kamra has also criticized us,” he remarked, further disparaging Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
“Kamra chastised Modi yesterday as well, but nobody has responded this strongly. “The Chief Minister ought to look around and see who is supporting him,” he said.
Uddhav Thackeray, the chief of the Shiv Sena (UBT), earlier on Monday defended stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra in the face of the uproar over his comments, claiming that they were accurate and representative of the general public’s opinion.
Furthermore, according to Thackeray, calling someone a “gaddar” is not an insult to any individual.
“I don’t believe Kunal Kamra made any incorrect remarks. Referring to someone as a “gaddar” is not an insult. Speaking to the journalists present, Thackeray said, “Kunal Kamra has spoken the truth; he has articulated what people feel.”
“There is no question of infringement of freedom of expression because he has spoken the truth,” Thackeray remarked in support of Kunal Kamra’s right to free speech. Listen to the whole song (from Kunal Kamra’s performance) and encourage others to do the same.
Kunal Kamra’s comments against Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde were denounced by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who said that such actions cannot be excused on the pretext of “freedom of speech.”
