During his evaluation, the chairman of the AAI instructed the agencies and engineers on the site to hasten and finish all outstanding work so that the airport is ready by January 2025.

Before the new terminal is put into service, he also gave the airport director instructions to make sure that the necessary clearances are obtained in a timely manner by coordinating with state authorities and regulatory agencies, such as the DGCA and BCAS.

The AAI news statement states that the anticipated cost of the Patna airport extension master plan, which involves the construction of a new terminal building, a multi-level parking structure, and parking bays, is Rs 1216.90 crore.

“With a built-up area of 65,155 sqm, the new world-class terminal building will cater to 3,000 passengers during peak hours,” claimed the press announcement.

Additionally, this development will increase the airport’s yearly passenger capacity from 3 million to 10 million. Six more parking stands will be added during the construction of the new terminal building, bringing the total number of parking stands to eleven.

Modern passenger amenities at the new terminal include 54 check-in desks, five-person boarding bridges, five conveyor belts, and eight in-line XBIS machines, which enable travelers to move through terminals quickly.

Madhubani paintings will grace the inside of this Griha IV-star new terminal building, which draws inspiration from the shapes of the Nalanda ruins.
