The India Meteorological Department reports that on Thursday, visibility at Delhi’s airports was 0 meters. As a thick layer of fog continued to affect key areas of the nation, similar circumstances were observed in Gwalior, Agra, Amritsar, and Pathankot.

Along with patches of fog across coastal Andhra Pradesh today, the IMD also recorded the presence of fog and low clouds throughout northwest, central, east, and northeast India.

The IMD predicted that Thursday will see a low temperature of 8 degrees Celsius and a high temperature of 17 degrees Celsius in Delhi.

Furthermore, according to statistics from the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research (SAFAR), the national capital’s air quality index at 8 a.m. today was 278 and was classified as “poor.”

A score of zero to fifty is regarded as “good,” 51 to 100 as “satisfactory,” 101 to 200 as “moderate,” 201 to 300 as “poor,” 301 to 400 as “very poor,” and 401 to 500 as “severe.”

As temperatures continue to plummet after the New Year, some areas in North India are still feeling the effects of the winter cold.
Additionally, 235 pagoda tents have been erected by the Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB) to house the homeless. AIIMS, Lodhi Road, and the Nizamuddin flyover are among the locations in the national capital where night shelters have been erected.

Residents of the capital were spotted congregating around bonfires in reaction to the cold weather, and as the temperature continued to drop, some sought refuge in night houses.

The highest temperature in Delhi was 15 degrees Celsius earlier on Wednesday, while the lowest was 7.4 degrees Celsius, marking the third day in a row that the city has had frigid weather.

In the meanwhile, due to snowfall in the area that was affecting flight schedules, airline Indigo on Thursday issued travel advice for its flights in Srinagar.

“We hope that the snowfall will temporarily stop so that we can make sure you have a smooth journey once again. “Remain informed and stay warm,” the airlines said.
