A leopard was found trapped and injured in a net in Kannur, Kerala

On Monday morning, January 6, 2025, a leopard that had been wounded after being trapped in a snare was discovered on private property in Kakkayangad, Muzhakkunnu panchayat, Kannur, Kerala. Around 8:30 a.m., the find was found on B.K. Prakashan’s land.

There was a big gathering in the vicinity after the finding. To safeguard the area and guarantee public safety, police and forest authorities responded quickly. Authorities roped off the area to stop further disruptions.

Given the circumstances, Arun K. Vijayan, the district collector for Kannur, issued prohibitory orders under BNSS Section 13, which forbids public gatherings inside the boundaries of the Muzhakkunnu panchayat between 10 a.m. on January 6 and 5 p.m. on January 7.

Those who disobey the instructions will face disciplinary action, the Collector, who also acts as the District Magistrate, warned.
