A large number of devotees reached Prayagraj to take a holy dip in the river Ganga
Prayagraj: On the eve of ‘Basant Panchami,’ a sizable contingent of worshippers assembled in Prayagraj to offer prayers to Maa Saraswati and take a sacred plunge in the Ganga River.
As the city prepares to host the holy Amrit Snan on February 3, which coincides with the auspicious date of Basant Panchami, a huge stream of pilgrims was seen at Prayagraj crossroads.
Pilgrims from all around the nation come to take the sacred plunge in the Ganges as part of the current Maha Kumbh Mela 2025.
Devotees from all across the nation visited the sacred city, and many of them participated in rites and benevolent deeds.
Basant Panchami is said to be the birthdate of Maa Saraswati; hence, swimming in the Ganga on this auspicious day is very important.
“Today is the ‘Amrit Snan’ on the occasion of Basant Panchami, and the procession of Mahanirvani Akhara and Shri Shambhu Panchayati Atal Akhara is heading towards the Sangam ghat,” Additional Mela Adhikari Vivek Chaturvedi remarked in reference to the preparations for the event.The safety of devotees has been adequately planned for.
“Today is the ‘Amrit Snan’ on the occasion of Basant Panchami,” spiritual guru Devkinandan Thakur told ANI. Such a vast number of people would never have visited Kumbh at this time, in my opinion. In the beginning, children and the elderly should be taken for “snan.” Everyone should be looked for by devotees. I also exhort young people to make sure that everyone is safe.
“We offer prayers to Goddess Saraswati on this Basant Panchami day,” said spiritual leader Swami Kailashanand Giri. ‘Amrit Snan’ is being held today in honor of Basant Panchami. By 4:30 am, we’ll be on our way to the ghat. It is a very sacred day today.
Meanwhile, processions for the third ‘Amrit Snan’ of Maha Kumbh 2025 were led by Mahamandleshwars from various akhadas.
As Saints and Nagas made their way to Triveni Sangam for the ‘Amrit Snan’ on the festival of Basant Panchami, police officers also offered prayers.
On the first day of spring, which coincides with the fifth day of the month of Magha, Hindus celebrate Basant Panchami, also called Vasant Panchami, Shri Panchami, and Saraswati Panchami. Forty days after the feast, it also marks the beginning of the Holi preparations. Throughout the festival, Maa Saraswati, the Hindu goddess of education, music, and the arts, is honored.

With more than 3,000 CCTV cameras set up to cover the city and the Mela region, the center is keeping an eye on 25 districts, 30 pontoon bridges, and crucial obstacles.
