After intense rains, a rock from the hills crashed on a house in Tamil Nadu‘s Tiruvannamalai district, tragically killing seven people.
Around 4 p.m. on December 1, after intense rains in the area, the big rock is said to have fallen into the home of a guy named Rajkumar, who lives on 11th Street in VOC Nagar, Tiruvannamalai.
Rajkumar, his wife Meena (27), son Gowtham (8), daughter Viniya (5), Ramya (7), Vinodhini (16), and Maha (7) have been named as the dead.

After Cyclone Fengal caused constant rain, specialists from Madras IIT have arrived at the scene of the landslide in Tiruvannamalai, where seven people perished when a massive boulder fell on their home.
We will inform the government of the extent of the damage, said Narasimha Rao, a retired professor in the geotechnical division of the civil engineering department at IIT Madras who came to inspect the scene of the accident. Sliding is the cause of these fissures. However, I am also concerned about the massive rocks. It might be hazardous if there is loose dirt below.
In an interview with ANI, Dr. S. Mohan, a retired professor in the Environmental and Water Resources Engineering Division at IIT Madras, said, “We will analyze and tell.” It’s difficult for us to tell. When we have a report ready, we will let you know. The government has requested that we come and provide the analysis and report.
Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, meantime, discussed the occurrence and provided details: “On December 1 at around 4 p.m., in Tiruvannamalai, a large boulder from the hills fell on the home of a man named Rajkumar at VOC Nagar, 11th Street, as a result of heavy rains. His home was covered in dirt and stones and was damaged. Seven individuals have perished under the rubble.
The commandos and NDRF were on a rescue operation. Rescue and fire operations were carried out. Around 630 p.m. on December 2, we began finding corpses, although we had anticipated that seven would be saved alive.

On the evening of December 2, Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin assessed the situation and promised all necessary support.
Locals lamented the deaths caused by the catastrophe.
One local resident, Unnamalai, remembered the day of the accident and said, “I was sleeping at home because I was sick.” On December 1, at around 4 p.m., muddy water unexpectedly entered our house, and we all heard a tremendous noise.
“The next thing I knew, people were dragging me out of my home to save me. Nevertheless, seven individuals died. This hurts. We have been here for almost 60 years. We are paying all of the taxes, including EB and property taxes. Where are we going? Everything in our house has been totally destroyed.
