“About 180 cottages were built,” Khemka stated. And we had taken great care in building them. It had been prohibited for anybody to perform any type of fireworks. On the west side, where the border has been established, a circulating area was declared where people might take Ganges baths.

“I don’t know to whom the administration gave it,” he said. Whoever they delivered it to, some fire came our way from that direction. Then all of our cottages burnt, gently, like a spark. There was nothing left. Damage has been done to goods valued at crores. By God’s goodness, nobody was killed.

While attempting to flee, a person known as Jaspreet suffered injuries. He lost consciousness after suffering a leg injury.

After receiving emergency medical attention, he was taken to the Central Hospital for preliminary care before being moved to Swaroop Rani Medical College in Prayagraj for more treatment. His health was steady and safe, according to the doctors.

An information department source claims that “the fire started around 16:10 hours, following a gas cylinder leak in the kitchen of the Geeta Press Gorakhpur camp, located between the old and new railway bridges.”

With the help of Kalpvasis and law enforcement, the local fire department was able to contain the fire by about 17:00. However, 40 thatched cottages and six tents belonging to Shri Sanjeev Prayagwal were destroyed, and two gas cylinders exploded as a result of the fire,” the official said.

According to Vivek Chaturvedi, Additional District Magistrate (ADM) for the Maha Kumbh Mela, the fire at the Gita Press camp destroyed eight to ten tents and 70 to 80 cottages.

To learn more about the event, police are still conducting investigations.
