DHR’s flagship program, SARANSH (Systematic Reviews and Networking Support in Health), aims to increase regional capacity for performing systematic reviews nationwide.

Prof. M Srinivas, the director, Prof. KK Verma, the academic dean, and Prof. Govind Makharia, the associate dean for research at AIIMS, officially opened this workshop.

The purpose of the workshop was to enable medical institutions in seven northern Indian states and Union Territories to perform excellent systematic reviews that would support the region’s evidence-based healthcare practices.

Clinicians, researchers, and academics from Delhi, Haryana, Chandigarh, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh were all present at the five-day event.

In order to address important healthcare issues in India, the curriculum concentrated on practical training in systematic review technique, which would be an essential tool for combining and synthesizing clinical research data.

In order to improve regional research capacity by establishing a network of knowledgeable professionals who are excellent at synthesizing data, the workshop was carefully planned to teach participants how to perform systematic reviews to influence clinical decision-making and health policy. Additionally, it sought to promote cooperation between research institutes and healthcare facilities in northern states.

A distinguished group of specialists from AIIMS, ICMR, and DHR conducted the session and provided insights into the theoretical and applied aspects of systematic reviews. During practical instruction, eager participants learned how to formulate research questions, conduct literature reviews, evaluate the strength of the evidence, and use sophisticated statistical methods.

Reiterating the government’s commitment to bolstering India’s healthcare research environment, the program was financed and supported by DHR.

The session was hailed by participants as a critical step in closing the gap between practice and research.
In India’s quest for excellence in healthcare delivery via evidence-based practice, the SARANSH workshop represents a major advancement. Its accomplishment paves the way for further efforts to advance healthcare innovation and research nationwide.
