Sunny Dayal, a wanted accused in the IOB robbery case, was killed in an encounter in Ghazipur
An important development occurred when Sunny Dayal, the sought suspect in the Indian Overseas Bank (IOB) robbery case, was eliminated in a confrontation in Ghazipur, close to the Bihar border.
The Ghazipur Police and the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) unit worked together on the operation.
Police said they saw two masked people acting suspiciously on a motorbike during a regular check at the Bara checkpoint. The accused accelerated and tried to flee the police after being told to halt. The Gahmar Police Station and SWAT/Surveillance teams were swiftly notified by the station in command, and they set up a trap close to the Kutubpur Dhaba.
The police replied in self-defense after the suspects abandoned their motorbike and started shooting at the following policemen. One of the suspects, Sunny Dayal (son of Nand Lal, resident of Amliya, Asarganj Police Station, Munger district, Bihar), suffered serious injuries during the subsequent exchange, while the other managed to flee in the dark.
Sunny Dayal was taken to CHC Bhadora right away, according to the police, and then sent to Ghazipur District Hospital, where medical professionals pronounced him dead.
A 32mm handgun, six wasted ammunition, two 32mm live cartridges, stolen white metal, and Rs 35,500 in cash were also found by the police.
In accordance with sections 331(4)/305E/317(2) BNS of Chinhat Police Station, Lucknow District, accused Sunny Dayal was a wanted criminal in case number 593/24, according to the police. He also had a Rs 25,000 bounty on his head and was connected to the well-known Indian Overseas Bank heist.
A thorough inquiry into the situation has been started by forensic teams and senior police officers. An attempt is being made to capture the second suspect who escaped during the incident.
In the meanwhile, the Lucknow Police murdered another accused person, Sobind Kumar, in a different encounter in Lucknow.
The police opened fire when someone from a vehicle began “indiscriminate firing” during a routine combing operation, according to Shashank Singh, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) East Lucknow. Large amounts of money and decorations made of yellow and white metal have been found.
“An uncontrollable vehicle was seen approaching the police party as the CP-led crime squad and a PS Chinhat team were conducting their routine combing operation. One of the passengers in the vehicle began shooting randomly. They yielded significant amounts of cash and decorations made of yellow and white metal.
Additionally, bullet rounds have been found inside the vehicle.His name is listed as Sobind Kumar in a journal that we found,” the DCP said.
