CM Yogi Adityanath reviewed the preparations for the upcoming Maha Kumbh during his visit to Prayagraj
Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, visited Prayagraj on Monday to assess the Maha Kumbh preparations.
CM Yogi also conducted a puja at Dashashwamedh Ghat during the visit.
“I came here to review the ongoing works related to the Kumbh,” CM Yogi remarked while briefing media on the Maha Kumbh preparations. To guarantee the darshan of a clean Ganga, the Uttar Pradesh Jal Board and Irrigation Department are at work.
There are measures in place to keep contaminated water out of the river.
“For the first time, people will witness the Ganga riverfront, which is expected to be ready by December 30,” said Chief Minister Yogi.
He said that a temporary hospital with 100 beds has been established by the Health Department. “For the first time, pilgrims will get to see a tableau of Prayagraj,” the chief minister said.
Held once every twelve years, the Maha Kumbh is set to take place in Prayagraj from January 13 to February 26, 2025.
The three primary bathing festivals—Makar Sankranti on January 14, Mauni Amavasya on January 29, and Basant Panchami on February 3—are called “Shahi Snan” (royal baths).
220 skilled deep-sea divers from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) will be stationed in the Sangam waters as part of the Maha Kumbh 2025 preparations. Supported by 700 boats, these divers will be on constant high alert to protect pilgrims throughout the sacred bathing ceremonies.
To ensure the safety and security of devotees during the Kumbh Mela, teams from the NDRF, SDRF, water police, Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC), and medical personnel will also work together.
Officials said the Uttar Pradesh State Tourism Development Corporation (UPSTDC) would build a 300-bed luxury dormitory in the Maha Kumbh Mela region to improve its tent-based deluxe lodging options. This ambitious project, which is scheduled to begin shortly, is to provide guests first-rate hotel choices.
For 45 days, the Uttar Pradesh Culture Department will erect 20 miniature stages at strategic points across Prayagraj so that visitors, pilgrims, and residents may take in the nation’s rich cultural legacy. On these stages, folk dances from different Indian states will be presented.
Director General of Police (DGP) Prashant Kumar said earlier this month that the Uttar Pradesh Police would use artificial intelligence (AI) and cutting-edge technology into its CCTV systems to improve security for the millions of anticipated pilgrims.
