Ahmedabad police arrested three suspects involved in the parcel bomb blast in Sabarmati area
Three suspects were detained by police after they responded quickly to a package bomb explosion in Ahmedabad’s Sabarmati neighborhood. Two people were hurt in the December 21 blast, which also exposed a startling story of personal grudges.
A strange package wrapped in a cloth bag was delivered to Baldevbhai Vitthalbhai Sukhadia, a resident of Shivam Row House, at around 11:30 a.m. Baldevbhai and his cousin Kiritbhai were hurt in the explosion caused by smoke coming from the gift. In accordance with the BNS Act of 2023, the Explosive Substances Act of 1908, and other pertinent legislation, a complaint was immediately filed.
Senior authorities, including the Deputy Police Commissioner of Zone-2 and the Assistant Police Commissioner of Sector-1, spearheaded a comprehensive investigation. Rupesh Kishorbhai Rao, Rohan alias Rocky Yogeshbhai Rawal, and Gaurav Niranjanbhai Kathin Gadhvi were the suspects identified with the help of forensic teams, which included bomb squads and dog units.
The primary suspect, Rupesh Rao, admitted planning the assault because of personal grudges. In an attempt to exact retribution, he learned how to construct explosives and weapons online since he believed his wife had an affair with Baldevbhai. While Gaurav delivered the explosive package, Rohan backed the idea for financial benefit.
Authorities found a stockpile of hazardous items during a search of Rupesh’s home, including two live explosives, five cartridges, a homemade revolver, high-voltage batteries, and equipment for building bombs. Possession of these goods was recorded as a distinct offense under the Arms Act.
The suspects have a history of illegal activity; in 2018 and 2019, Rupesh and Rohan were charged under the Prohibition Act. The Ahmedabad Police Commissioner was among the senior personnel who praised the law enforcement forces’ prompt reaction.
The operation was greatly aided by officers PI H.N. Patel, PSI K.D. Patel, and PSI R.H. Pandav.
To protect the public and stop future occurrences of this kind, further inquiries are being conducted.
The culprit, Gaurav Garhvi, was taken into custody by police on Saturday after he delivered the exploding package to Baldev’s home.
“Gaurav Garhvi visited Baldev’s home in Sabarmati and gave him a package that detonated. Gaurav Garhvi, the defendant, has been taken into custody. The two were engaged in an internal conflict. The police are looking into the situation. Soon, more suspects will be taken into custody. Neeraj Kumar Bargurjar of the JCP Ahmedabad Police said, “FSL and BDDS teams are on the spot.”
The police, bomb disposal squad, dog squad, and FSL all showed up to the explosion site after getting the information.
