Chris Martin, the vocalist of Coldplay, has confirmed that he and actress Dakota Johnson are still together despite rumors and conjecture surrounding their relationship.

Despite attempts to keep their connection out of the spotlight, Chris said in a recent interview that their closeness is still strong, according to E! News.

Since they first met in 2017, the pair has maintained a discreet relationship, but in recent months, there have been persistent rumors that they are splitting up.

During the interview, the 47-year-old artist highlighted the importance of romantic love in his life while also emphasizing his need to remain private.

“It is important to say that [romantic love] is such a big factor in everything,” he said. He continued, “even though it feels right to keep it precious and private; I’m not denying its power,” according to E! News.

Chris, who is married to ex-wife Gwyneth Paltrow and has two children, Moses Martin, 18, and Apple Martin, 20, spoke well of Dakota.

He called her, along with his kids, one of his dearest friends, and said the two had just listened to Golden Hour by Kacey Musgraves together.

Despite maintaining a low-key relationship for years, Chris and Dakota have been the subject of engagement and split rumors.

The pair had reportedly been engaged for a while, according to many sources in March, however neither verified the rumors at the time, according to E! News.

Rumors that they had split up surfaced in August, but a spokesman promptly refuted the claims, telling fans that the pair was still “happily together.”

Shortly after the split rumors started, Dakota was sighted in Malibu sporting an emerald ring on her ring finger, which she had been observed wearing since 2020, which fueled rumors that she was engaged.

Nevertheless, Chris and Dakota have both said that they would rather keep their relationship private.
