A 5.56mm INSAS rifle, a 0.32 pistol with a magazine, and a 7.62mm Russian RPD machine gun were among the confiscated weapons. Numerous explosives, including a 2.5 kg bomb with Ctn and a 2-inch mortar, were also recovered as a result of the operation.

Two wireless radio sets and a number of hand grenades, including No. 36 and WP hand grenades, were also discovered; they might be connected to local rebel organizations.

Security personnel found a variety of ammunition, including live rounds of 5.56mm and 7.62mm ammunition, in addition to weapons and explosives. The operation also discovered large artillery rounds and improvised mortar shells, which further demonstrated the scope of illicit weapons in the area.

The search efforts, which took place in Imphal East District’s Nungbram Village and Lairok Vaiphei Village, are a component of a larger security force effort to keep sensitive regions under control. Armed organizations have previously been present in these locations and have been subject to insurgent actions.

Together, the Indian Army and Manipur Police retrieved five IEDs from the Imphal East area of Manipur on December 17. Based on specific information about the existence of explosives in the Maphitel Ridge region, the search operation was initiated.

The IEDs, which weighed 21.5 kg in total, were discovered in many places. Eva, the explosive detection dog, and the Army’s bomb disposal crew were instrumental in the successful discovery and recovery of these devices.

In addition to demonstrating the troops’ unity, this action stopped a serious danger and saved the lives of many innocent people. The Army is still dedicated to stopping subversive actions in Manipur, as are local law enforcement organizations.
