Alok Ranjan Jha appointed as High Commissioner of India to Zambia, MEA announced
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said Thursday that Alok Ranjan Jha, who is currently India’s Ambassador to Belarus, has been named India’s High Commissioner to Zambia.
In 2002, Alok Ranjan Jha became a member of the Indian Foreign Service. It is anticipated that he will begin the task soon.
In a press statement, MEA said, “Shri Alok Ranjan Jha (IFS: 2002), presently Ambassador of India to Belarus, has been appointed as the next High Commissioner of India to the Republic of Zambia.”
Jha has held a number of positions in the Indian diplomatic missions overseas as well as at the New Delhi headquarters. Alok Ranjan Jha was the Joint Secretary, MEA, New Delhi, in charge of two Divisions that dealt with Establishment Affairs and Global Estate Management, before taking over as India’s Ambassador to Belarus.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the 6th Session of the Zambia-India Joint Permanent Commission was co-chaired by Union Minister of State (MoS) for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh and Zambia Foreign Minister Mulambo Haimbe on November 6.
Both leaders reaffirmed their resolve to further fortify bilateral connections for the benefit of both nations’ people and conveyed gratitude for the increased momentum in their bilateral partnerships.
According to MEA, the two leaders emphasized the value of frequent interchange at the official and political levels, including contacts within multilateral and plurilateral fora like the UN, and expressed pleasure with the ongoing exchange of visits.
According to MEA, Mulambo Haimbe and Kirti Vardhan Singh agreed that further celebrations and programs should be planned in their respective nations to mark 60 years since India and Zambia established diplomatic ties.
Agriculture, Education, Science & Technology, Energy, Culture, Housing and Urban Development, Finance, Development Partnership, Training Scholarship and Capacity Building, Defense, Mines and Mineral Resources, Transportation & Communications, Water Development and Sanitation, Disaster Management Healthcare, Cooperative and SMEs, and Consular issues were among the areas of cooperation that were reviewed and discussed by both parties.
