Ajay Rai, the president of Congress, said that the death of the Congress worker was caused by the state administration and police
Lucknow: The killing of a Congress worker during the party’s demonstration outside the Uttar Pradesh Assembly on Wednesday was attributed to the state administration and police, according to Uttar Pradesh Congress President Ajay Rai.
He called for a government position for one of the deceased’s relatives and one crore rupees in compensation for the victim.
At a news conference, Ajay Rai said, “The Congress has announced an ex gratia of 10 lakh for Prabhat Pandey, and we demand a compensation of Rs 1 crore from the state government for killing the worker and a government job for one of the family members of the deceased.”
A really tragic event occurred today; we had intended to conduct a ‘gherao’ of the state assembly. But barbed wire and barriers were put up to block us as we left here (Congress state headquarters) for the Assembly. He said, “One of our employees, Prabhat Pandey, died as a result of the police beating him during the protest.”
He called for the police officers who allegedly attacked the Congress employees to be held accountable.
“Our two employees, Ashish Kesari and Junaid Iqlam Qureshi, were informed by Prabhat Pandey that he had been assaulted by the police. He passed out as he lay down in the office. After being brought to the hospital, he was pronounced dead. This event is inhumane. “Assam has also experienced a similar incident,” he stated.
Rahul Gandhi, the previous leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha, expressed sympathy to their bereaved family members and said that the Constitution had been killed in Assam and Uttar Pradesh, which are dominated by the BJP.
“Democracy and the Constitution have been murdered again in BJP-ruled Assam and Uttar Pradesh,” Rahul Gandhi said in a post on X. Across the nation, the Congress party is engaging in satyagraha in favor of Babasaheb and the Constitution. It is terribly unfortunate and unacceptable that our Congress activists Mridul Islam in Guwahati and Prabhat Pandey in Lucknow died as a result of an overabundance of police during this time.
“I send their bereaved loved ones my sincerest sympathy. These families are entitled to complete justice. The Constitution and the truth will be upheld by the majority of Congress,” he said.
On Wednesday, Congress members and leaders marched to Raj Bhavans in Patna, Guwahati, Chandigarh, and Jammu as part of national rallies. Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s comments on B.R. Ambedkar, the current Manipur issue, the purported delay on the Adani scandal, and the need for the restoration of Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood were the main causes of the protests.
