Indian Ambassador Vinay Mohan Kwatra and US Deputy Secretary of State Campbell will meet Indian astronauts training at NASA
American Deputy Secretary of State Kurt Campbell and Indian Ambassador to the United States Vinay Mohan Kwatra visited Indian astronauts training at NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston on Tuesday.
Senior officials accompanied them, and the purpose of the meeting with prominent executives of the space sector was to explore potential future collaborations between the United States and India.
The US Department of State issued a news statement outlining the visit’s specifics.
“As the United States and India collaborate to promote space cooperation, especially on human spaceflight, Deputy Secretary of State Kurt Campbell will visit Houston, Texas, on December 17. In the upcoming year, he will accompany Indian Ambassador to the United States Vinay Mohan Kwatra and Principal Deputy National Security Advisor Jon Finer to meet with astronauts from the Indian Space Research Organization who are undergoing training at NASA’s Johnson Space Center in preparation for a joint mission to the International Space Station in collaboration with NASA.
“To explore ways to enhance cooperation across the space innovation value chain in the US and India, the officials will also meet with top members of the space industry. At Rice University, Deputy Secretary Campbell and Mr. Finer will also take part in a conversation on “U.S. Foreign Policy in a Moment of Transition,” which will include how the next administration may strengthen the close relationship between the United States and India.
