Peshawar: According to ARY News, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur said that they are awaiting Imran Khan, the founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, to issue a call for the start of a “civil disobedience movement.”

Gandapur promised that the civil disobedience campaign will start as soon as the PTI founder issued the call. According to Gandapur, he is the province’s representative and doesn’t need anyone’s approval.

Gandapur claimed earlier on Monday that Imran Khan, the founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, not him, had announced the “civil disobedience movement,” as ARY News had reported.

According to him, their demands include reversing unlawful changes, restoring their mandate, and releasing the party founder.

“This situation is still unclear. We’ll use ‘civil disobedience’ if things become clear,” Gandapur was cited by ARY News as saying.

Gandapur reaffirmed that Imran Khan has the last say over the civil disobedience campaign and that whatever he says will be done.

Sahibzada Hamid Raza, the chairman of the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC), said that the plan for the “civil disobedience movement” has been developed and that it would be “more successful” than the one that was launched in 2014.

He went on to say that their main goal is to negotiate. “We are ready to talk with the government if it has powers, but it has to show its authority,” he said.

A ‘civil disobedience action’ would ensue if the PTI’s demands are not fulfilled, according to statements made by imprisoned former prime minister Imran Khan earlier on December 6.

“We have two demands: An impartial investigation of the events of May 9 and November 26 should be carried out by a committee appointed by the Supreme Court’s seniormost justices.Political prisoners who have been wrongfully imprisoned need to be freed. For talks, a committee led by Umar Ayub has been established. He said, “Civil disobedience, a reduction in remittances, and a boycott movement will be initiated if the demands are not met.”
