Discuss strengthening bilateral relations and trade with Vice President Dhankhar and Speaker of the Armenian National Assembly
New Delhi: On Tuesday, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar and President Alen Simonyan of the Armenian National Assembly met in New Delhi with the aim of enhancing connectivity, expanding commerce between the two countries, and strengthening their collaboration.
They also spoke about how crucial parliamentary exchanges are to strengthening ties between Armenia and India.
The Vice President wrote, X: “Today at Parliament House, Vice President and Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar was visited by President Alen Simonyan of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia. The historical connections between the two democracies were the main topic of discussion, and the significance of enhancing bilateral commerce and connectivity was emphasized. The leaders also emphasized how parliamentary exchanges can strengthen ties between Armenia and India.
President Droupadi Murmu also had a meeting with the Armenian delegation earlier on Tuesday. She emphasized the need for frequent parliamentary discussion in strengthening bilateral cooperation at the conference.
In an article on X, Rashtrapati Bhavan wrote: “A parliamentary delegation from the Republic of Armenia, led by HE Alen Simonyan, President of the National Assembly of Armenia, called on President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan.”
“The President said that regular parliamentary dialogue plays an important role in enhancing understanding of each other’s systems of governance and laws and further deepening bilateral partnership,” it said.
Higher-level relations between Armenia and India have grown recently.
The number of high-level contacts between Armenia and India has increased recently. Vahagn Afyan, Armenia’s ambassador to India, met with External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar last week in New Delhi to discuss strengthening India-Armenia ties.
The 2nd India-Iran-Armenia Trilateral Consultations, which focused on regional trends, multilateral involvement, and connectivity, were held in New Delhi on December 12. According to a post on X by the Ministry of External Affairs, the talks focused on boosting commerce, tourism, cultural exchanges, and people-to-people connections.
